Lutz-Jesco TECHNOSTAR Flow-Through Chlorine Electrolysis System

Salt water chlorination for commercial and public swimming pools - no chlorine gas, no bleach, no chemical storage.

Overview

The TECHNOSTAR generates hypochlorous acid on site from ordinary salt dissolved in the pool water. The electrolysis cells are installed directly in the pool circulation line, so disinfection happens continuously as the water passes through. There is no chlorine gas room, no bulk hypochlorite storage and no handling of hazardous chemicals. The result is a pool that stays clean and clear, with soft, skin-friendly salt water that bathers notice: no red eyes and no irritation.

Designed and built in Germany by Lutz-Jesco, the TECHNOSTAR is a proven system for public pools, aquatic centres, hotels, schools and commercial facilities. Six models cover disinfectant capacities from 30 to 500 g of chlorine per hour.

Key benefits

  • Disinfection without hazardous chemicals - the only consumable is salt
  • Salt water is gentle on skin and eyes and pleasant to swim in
  • Breaks down other compounds in the water, reducing overall contamination
  • Economical to run and environmentally friendly
  • No chlorine gas room and none of the associated safety requirements
  • Simple installation directly into the pool circulation pipework
  • Compatible with any pool measurement and control system (4 - 20 mA control signal)
  • Simple operation through a graphic display
  • Low maintenance with an automatic self-cleaning function
  • Coated titanium electrodes for long service life
  • Conforms to DIN 19643 (German public pool water treatment standard)

How it works

The system consists of a control cabinet and one or more electrolysis cells fitted in the pool water circuit. The pool water is maintained at a salt content of at least 0.35 % (3.5 kg of salt per cubic metre) - about one tenth the salinity of sea water. As the water passes through the cell, a low-voltage DC current converts the dissolved salt into hypochlorous acid, the active disinfectant.

A programmable logic controller in the cabinet monitors and manages the electrolysis process. Chlorine output is infinitely adjustable from 0 to 100 %, so disinfection performance can be matched to changing bather loads. Your pool controller measures free chlorine, pH, redox and temperature and drives the TECHNOSTAR via a 4 - 20 mA signal; when the free chlorine setpoint is reached, production stops automatically. An external release input, plus the standard flow and temperature monitors, provide additional safety.

The electrolytic cell is a wearing part with a typical service life of one to three years and can be replaced on site in a few simple steps. The self-cleaning interval can be adjusted to suit the water composition.
